With the college football season returning, that also means sports betting does too. Actually, it never really went away during the offseason, but in my opinion, there’s nothing fun to bet during then so mentally it did go away for myself.

We had a great run betting during the basketball season last year if you kept up with our picks, and we look to extend that into football this season. Now, I’m no gambling professional, but I do confidentially feel that I have a good understanding of the Kentucky teams and how they’ll perform. I’m putting my own money up for risk, so of course I feel that way. Feel free to tag along with us as we post our bets each week if you want to try to win with the CC crew.

I’m generally a modest bettor, meaning I like to bet more targeted bets that have a better chance of being successful while also putting a higher amount on it. So, not a crazy return on the winnings but a more guaranteed win rate, while also putting up a decent amount on the bet to increase that smaller return. Consistent wins instead of high risk high reward.

With that being said, never bet any money that you aren’t fine with losing every bit of. Gambling is a hobby, it shouldn’t be your lifestyle nor fund your lifestyle. This is for entertainment and you need to be okay with losing all that you put in if that was to ever happen. No bet is guaranteed to be a winner.

Anyways, here are my pick(s) for Week 1 versus Southern Miss. I make my bets on the DraftKings Sportsbook app.

I went with Over 9.5 Team Total Points for Southern Miss during their game at Kentucky.

While Kentucky’s defense is expected to be elite this season, it’s the first game of the season and it’s going to be the rough draft version of it. They are going to have some misses and not be perfect, and I think across four quarters Southern Miss will reach at least 10 points. If Kentucky’s defense is elite from the jump and they hold the Golden Eagles to less than 9.5 points in total, then I’m fine with taking the loss because I’ll replace my sadness of losing the bet for my happiness with a great defense to root for.
