Kentucky Football Starts The Season 1-0.

While it was a delayed evening, we still got to see Kentucky play some football. An original kick time that was set for 7:45 pm, it slowly turned into a 10:05 kickoff time with a slap-happy home crowd.

Excited about the light show, fans were beyond committed to watching the season opener after they sat through rain, lighting strikes, and no alcohol sales (rule during the delay).

Fans were ultimately rewarded with a 1-0 start to the year, defeating the Southern Miss Golden Eagles 31-0. They commanded the first half 24-0 before solidifying the victory once the game was called off due to more lighting strikes spotted in the area.

Brock Vandagriff would finish with 169 passing yards (12/18) in his debut, co-starring with Barion Brown who finished with 2 touchdowns and 42 yards. As a team, they compiled for 317 total yards (148 passing, 24 rushing).

Up next for the Wildcats is a rush right into conference play. Next Saturday, Kentucky will host the South Carolina Gamecocks at 3:30 pm on ABC as both teams look to remain perfect. The SEC East rival barely scraped out a win in week one, surviving the upset from Old Dominion 23-19.
