Tomorrow the Kentucky Wildcats play host to the number one team in America, the Georgia Bulldogs. Game day activities weren’t the best for Kentucky’s first night game of the season in week one against Southern Miss. There were pop-up showers throughout the day, lightning delays, let’s not even get started about the actual game… As you already know, it was delayed and then eventually called in the third quarter for an abrupt finish.
Anyways, tailgating is one of my personal favorite fall activities. There is nothing more enjoyable than sitting around watching football all day and being with some of your best friends while enjoying good food and cold drinks, somehow making it even better.
With that being said, if you don’t have a place to tailgate at I recommend the Kroger Tailgating Experience.
Every week Kroger hosts a VIP tailgate event. It begins two hours prior to kickoff for each home game. The event is held in the lawn next to Bluegrass Technical and Community College building. Kroger customers can enter the Kroger Tailgate Experience. They must show a Kroger receipt dated within 7 days of the event and the receipt should total $35 (or more) per person to get in. It is fun for the whole family to attend. There are games, food, drinks, music, and more.
If you are looking for the full game day experience, you will probably want to go take part in the Cat Walk. It is held outside of Gates 1 & 12 on Talbott Todd Way. This is a good way to get extremely close to the players. You can also get up-close to the coaching staff as they make their way into the stadium with the team.
If you are going to the game I would recommend heading to your seats a little earlier than normal. There has been some congestion issues at the gates this season getting fans into Kroger Field. So, if you don’t want to miss the national anthem, arrive early. Arrive at least a half hour before to enjoy all the pre-game activities.
If you are watching at home, the broadcast will begin at 7:30 PM ET on ABC. Kickoff will be around 7:45 PM ET.
Keep in mind that at the first quarter break, Kentucky will celebrate former Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch. It was announced that he will be joining the College Football Hall of Fame in 2024. Make sure you are in your seats for this honorary UK moment. Cheer on Tim as he solidifies himself as a UK and college football legend, officially.
