Right around the corner is basketball season and to officially mark the start of it is Big Blue Madness. This year the event will be held in Rupp Arena like always, but is set for October 11th.
Under the new staff and the brand new roster things will look a lot different than what we’re used to and I’m excited to see what will be in store. As once a tradition that stopped a few years back, the campout will not be a thing nor will be available for fans to do. Historic Memorial Coliseum is still considered an active construction site with workers still there making upgrades to the venue. Many hope that UK tradition will return next season, but that’s just speculation.
Monday morning the school announced that tickets for BBM will go on sale this Friday. Technically there won’t be a cost for the tickets — outside of the service fees — as the event is free each season, but they’ll be distributed to the first people in line (on the website) once they are made public. “Due to the ongoing renovation of Historic Memorial Coliseum, there will be no in-person ticket distribution,” said the school in a press release.
“All patrons require a ticket for Big Blue Madness, regardless of age. Online orders will have a minimal service fee attached, and there will be a limit of four tickets per household. All duplicate orders will automatically be canceled. Due to high demand, UK Athletics cannot guarantee that all fans will receive tickets.”
The tickets will be made public for fans to claim starting at 5:00 PM EST on September 27th, located on the Ticketmaster app. The event will take place just two weeks after on October 11th at 7:00 PM.
