The hype surrounding Kenny Brooks’ first team as the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Kentucky continues to grow as the season approaches. Hosting the two preseason events with the men’s basketball team together, they’ll host their own and first game of the season in less than two weeks.

Top-25 Preseason National Ranking

With the preseason still existing, the program is getting a lot of positive recognition on what’s to come. After coming in at No. 22 on the Preseason AP Poll, the Wildcats earned the same ranking on the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll this afternoon where women’s basketball coaches vote on the top-25 nationally. This marks the eleventh time in the past fifteen seasons that the Kentucky women’s basketball program has entered the season ranked.

As the team selections start to flow in, so will some of the individual ones. One that is headlining a lot of those is Virginia Tech transfer guard, Georgia Amoore.

Georgia Amoore Named Preseason First Team All-SEC

The preseason First Team All-SEC honors was released yesterday, and it featured Kentucky point guard Georgia Amoore. SEC coaches voted on the preseason All-SEC teams and they agreed that Amoore will be one of the very best players in the entire conference.

Georgia Amoore follows coach Kenny Brooks over from Virginia Tech, where she was First Team All-ACC after averaging 18.8 PPG and 6.8 APG for the Hokies. Amoore looks to be an extension of Kenny Brooks on the court as she hopes to lead Kentucky to a successful debut season under the new program.

We spoke with Brooks at UK’s annual Media Day and he had a lot of great things to say about this new adventure.
