In the college sports world recruiting never stops. This has been amplified exponentially recently due to the introduction of NIL in college athletics. Even though Kentucky will be playing their final football game of the season this coming Saturday against Louisville, they are still continuously on the recruiting trail for future potential Kentucky Wildcats.
Mark Stoops and Vince Marrow have always made in-state recruits a priority at Kentucky over the years, and I wanted to spotlight two recruits that will be at the UK versus Louisville game this coming Saturday for the battle for the Governor’s Cup. Both recruits are currently playing football at Pulaski County High School in Somerset, Kentucky. These are class of 2027 offensive lineman, Brady Hull, and class of 2030 quarterback, Kallen Ridner.
Brady Hull will be back in Lexington this weekend for his second visit to the school. Hull’s first visit came back in the spring during spring practice. This is what Brady Hull had to say about looking at his future destination for his college career.
“Yeah when thinking about where to play college ball, it’s definitely very important to consider both the connections with other recruits and the relationship with the coaches. A strong bond with my future teammates can make a huge difference in my overall experience and success. But having a good connection with coaches, like Coach Wolford and Coach Jackson, is very crucial too. They can really help me develop my skills and guide me through my college career. I’m looking for a place that needs me and feels like home. I don’t want to go where I’m wanted, I want to go where I’m needed.“
On this weekend’s trip, here’s what he’s looking forward to most.
“I am looking forward to being there as in-state rival games have the best game day environment. I’m looking to continue building a relationship with the coaching staff and other recruits. I also look forward to seeing Cutter Boley play some more at QB as a freshman. His sister and my oldest sister played travel softball together back in their young years back when Cutter and I were just babies.“
Brady has plenty of time to make a decision about his collegiate career, however, he has also visited several other big name programs in his young high school career. These included Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Louisville, Cincinnati, and the most recent one being Michigan. The offer/interest list continues to grow for Hull so Kentucky needs to stay honed in on this in-state talent if they want to land him.
Here are some highlights from Brady Hull’s sophomore season at Pulaski County.
Now I know 2030 seems like a lifetime away, but it’s never too early to start scouting especially for a generational type talent like Kallen Ridner. Ridner is currently the number one ranked quarterback in the state of Kentucky for his recruiting class. He’s fresh off of helping lead the Pulaski County Maroons to a 7th grade State Championship this year, and Kentucky has taken notice by extending him an invitation to the Kentucky-Louisville game this Saturday as well.
As previously stated, Kallen has been pretty busy this fall. The Maroons had a longer season than most as they went all the way to that title game which was held on November 16th at Lexington Christian Academy. This made it more difficult for him to attend some of the many game day invitations that was extended to him throughout his own season. He piled in invites from Murray State, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Miami, Baylor, Toledo, Eastern Michigan, North Texas, Purdue, Virginia, Indiana, Alabama, and now Kentucky.
I talked with Kallen about his thoughts on the upcoming visit to Kentucky.
“I’m super excited to go on the visit. It just seems unreal because just a couple years ago I was dreaming about playing at Kentucky and being the home state hero. I’m looking forward to the experience and meeting the coaching staff.“
Ridner went on to say that he is really looking forward to meeting with Vince Marrow and Bush Hamdan on his visit and seeing how he could play a role in Kentucky’s offense in the future. I asked him the same question about the idea of being able to play alongside fellow Pulaski County Maroon, Brady Hull.
“It would be pretty cool to team up with Brady in college. I’m really looking forward to my freshman year of high school playing with him and would really like to keep playing with him in college.”
Here are some highlights from Kallen’s performance in the state championship against the Union Raiders.
Now before we get too carried away, I know it’s early, but when you have such great talent with players like Hull and Ridner, you have to help promote it. Yes, it does make it easier for me to speak on this as I reside in Somerset, Kentucky, and that I have been to numerous of both Hull and Ridner’s games throughout this past season, so I’m really excited for what’s to come for them. I look forward to following their high school careers as they try to carve their path to whatever collegiate route that they choose.
