After a tough showing in the loss against Ohio State, Kentucky bounced back with a dominant showing against Brown University. With conference play coming up, the ‘Cats needed a good performance to “get right” and that’s exactly what they did today.
Despite a bit of a slow start, Kentucky got going and won the game decisively, with a final score of 88-54.
There were a lot of contributors today, with Andrew Carr finishing the game with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Jaxson Robinson added as well, going for 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and Otega Oweh had 13 points and 2 assists himself. Travis Perry got to see some action early, finishing with 4 total points, and Trent Noah knocked down a pair of triples to give him 6 points on the afternoon. Amari Williams contributed 13 points and 3 blocks, while Koby Brea also had a nice game, tallying 13 points in total. This would have 4 players reaching double-digits against the Bears.
Here is the final box score for the game:

Jaxson Robinson scored the first six points of the contest for Kentucky, as he was the only one who could get going early on. Andrew Carr then scored seven straight points making the two players responsible for Kentucky’s first 13 points. As the first half went on, Amari Williams stayed active on the defensive end, coming up with blocks, steals, and tough rebounds. He had a big steal that led to a fast-break, and I’ve gotta say, no seven-footer should be able to run that fast. Just get out of the way!
The first half continued, with a handful of players getting on the board. Travis Perry, Ansley Almonor, and Koby Brea all knocked down threes, and Andrew Carr continued to pile in the points.
The Wildcats forced a ton of turnovers defensively, finishing the first half with 14 on the stat sheet. Rebounding was a massive problem in the first half, with Kentucky getting out-rebounded 10-21.
The score at halftime was 39-27.
Otega Oweh, who struggled in the first half, got the second half going with a corner three. He then scored on a transition layup, giving him the first five points of the second half for Kentucky. Oweh continued to contribute on both sides of the ball throughout the second half. Amari Williams also came on strong through his offense, scoring a few times early in the second. Brandon Garrison got in on the action too, knocking down a three midway through the second.
Kentucky continued to produce on both ends of the court, pulling away and extending their lead. A big story of this game is the significantly improved free-throw shooting which has been a consistent issue for the Wildcats this season. The ‘Cats finished 18-23 (78%) from the free-throw line against Brown.
They continued their dominance defensively, forcing 23 turnovers and holding Brown to 40.8% from the field and 23.8% from three. The ‘Cats still got out-rebounded, 29-35.
The final score of the game was 88-54.
Kentucky moves to 11-2 and will take on #6 Florida in their SEC opener on Saturday, January 4th, at 11:00 AM.
