Kentucky lost a lot of talent on both sides of the ball this offseason, but they especially did on the offensive side. This staff has hit the transfer portal wide-open ever since the season ended. So much to that several national media outlets are currently reporting that Kentucky has established a top-10 transfer portal class thus far. It also helps that just earlier today Kentucky Football got an another commitment, this one being from Louisiana Tech University transfer, Tru Edwards.
Edwards was ranked inside the top-300 in the transfer portal rankings and inside the top-50 within his position at wide receiver. The program lost a lot of weapons in that room this winter and it was imperative that Mark Stoops and his staff get some veteran guys to come in and replace those players. The incoming receivers will be used to compliment incoming quarterback, Zach Calzada, who transferred in from Incarnate Word.
Tru Edwards is a 6’2″ 200-pound wideout who brings size, speed, and athleticism to Kentucky’s 2025 squad. This past season for the Bulldogs, Edwards played in thirteen total games, catching 84 receptions for nearly 1,000 receiving yards. He also scored 6 touchdowns.
With Troy Stellato from Clemson, Kendrick Law from Alabama, JJ Hester from Oklahoma, Kentucky’s wide receiver room is looking better and better. Also, both Ja’Mori Maclin and Fred Farrier are returning for a second season which also adds more veteran leadership to the mix. Offensive coordinator, Bush Hamdan, will have some excellent tools at his disposal that he’s hand-picked this round.
Edwards had a lot of good offers after entering his name into the transfer portal. Several schools reached out to him, with a few being South Carolina, Southern California, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, Florida State, Texas A&M, Washington, and Mississippi State.
Here is a sneak preview of Kentucky’s latest addition on offense.
