Kentucky Defeats Texas A&M At Home

Fresh off a top-15 road win over Mississippi State, the near unbearable schedule of the SEC would continue just three days later as Kentucky hosted No. 11 Texas A&M in Rupp Arena on Tuesday night. The Aggies would come in with a record of 13-3 overall, looking to fight their way past one of the best teams in the country on their home court, a feat that would not be accomplished.

The Wildcats would win by a score of 81-69, improving to 14-3 and adding another ranked win to their tournament resume, sitting at a perfect 5-0 against AP top-25 teams. Tonight’s win would be their eleventh inside the home building, extending Mark Pope’s undefeated streak at the helm.

Kentucky was led by Jaxson Robinson who finished with 22 points through 34 minutes. Right behind him for the Wildcats was Andrew Carr (13) and Otega Oweh (11), who combined for 24 points. As a collective group, the team shot 46.2% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point line.

Here are the final stats from the game.

Kentucky would also out-rebound the Aggies 40-30, while also recording more blocks, steals, and assists in the matchup. The leaders on the Aggies board — who were without star guard Wade Taylor — were Zhuric Phelps (21) and Pharrell Payne (15), who combined for 36 points.

Up next for Kentucky is their home game this Saturday against No. 4 Alabama, with no let-up of competition starting at 12:00 PM. Another breakfast/lunch kind of day with Kentucky Basketball, and I know fans will be amped up inside Rupp Arena.
