The Kentucky men’s basketball season officially ended this past Friday night following their 78-65 loss to Tennessee in the Sweet Sixteen. With that, seniors Amari Williams, Andrew Carr, Koby Brea, Ansley Almonor, Lamont Butler, and Jaxson Robinson all had their collegiate careers officially come to an end. Now the question is of those remaining that do have collegiate eligibility left, who would return?
Earlier this morning the Wildcats got their first player to make a decision, officially entering his name into the transfer portal. Senior guard, Kerr Kriisa, announced that he will be leaving the program after just one season.
He played in nine games this season for the Wildcats before suffering a season-ending foot injury against Gonzaga back in December. In those 9 games, Kerr was averaging 4.4 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.4 rebounds to start the season.
Kentucky was Kriisa’s third school in his five years in the NCAA. He started out in 2020 when he played for Arizona for three seasons (2020-2023). He then transferred to West Virginia for the 2023-24 season and then Kentucky in 2024-25. It is expected that Kriisa will receive a medical redshirt to be able play in his sixth season of collegiate basketball after not fully completing his one in Lexington.
This is what Kriisa said on social media regarding his time at the University of Kentucky:
“To Coach Pope and the UK coaching staff — it has been an absolute dream to play for the University of Kentucky. Thank you for your continued support. I will always cherish my time in the Blue Grass State, and I wish Kentucky Basketball all the best in the future.”
I wish Kerr the best of luck in his future basketball endeavors as well.
