The new team is making its way to campus this week, eagerly ready to get their Kentucky Basketball journey underway. Not all have made it to campus as of Friday, June 6th, but the majority have.

As they’re finding their locker in the Joe Craft Practice Facility, most of the team has been posting to social media their jersey number displayed at the top of their locker, likely having reality set in for them that they are now a Wildcat.

So far, the only players who haven’t made it to campus just yet are Andrija Jelavic and Mouhamed Dioubate, as well as a few of the returning roster such as Trent Noah, Collin Chandler, Otega Oweh, and Brandon Garrison. Most of the returners do come back a week or so later than the newbies, so that’s not much of a concern. It’s also expected that Jelavic and Dioubate will be here in the coming days, so, before you know it, the whole gang will be here in Lexington in pursuit of No. 9.

We’ve watched closely to their posts this week and have tracked down the jersey numbers of each player for the upcoming season. Here’s what they are.

00 – Otega Oweh (Kentucky senior)

1 – Denzel Aberdeen (Florida transfer)

2 – Jasper Johnson (Freshman recruit)

3 – Kam Williams (Tulane transfer)

4 – Andrija Jelavic (Mega Bet [Croatia])

5 – Collin Chandler (Kentucky sophomore)

9 – Trent Noah (Kentucky sophomore)

10 – Brandon Garrison (Kentucky junior)

15 – Jaland Lowe (Pittsburgh transfer)

21 – Jayden Quaintance (Arizona State transfer)

22 – Braydon Hawthorne (Freshman recruit)

23 – Mouhamed Dioubate (Alabama transfer)

24 – Malachi Moreno (Freshman recruit)

33 – Reece Potter (Miami [OH] transfer)

To some people, jersey numbers mean nothing, but to some they mean everything. You can compare them to who wore the numbers in the past, you can even go buy their jersey in support, but it’s also really cool just to finally see things come to life and feel more “official” as we still have quite the time to go until the season actually begins.

The team will spend most of the next few months grinding it out in the practice facility on campus, some in Rupp Arena as well, getting to know each other and building the on-court chemistry as well as the off-court chemistry. One thing that UK is good about is putting out content during the summer to showcase these players’ personalities, and I cannot wait for it. This is where we can start the process of getting overly excited for what’s to come this fall and winter.
