On Tuesday night in Historic Memorial Coliseum, the majority of the Kentucky men’s basketball staff joined Jack Givens and Dick Gabriel on the SEC Network+’s broadcast to preview the new team. It was UK’s ‘Pro Day’, which had NBA scouts from every franchise in attendance to evaluate the current Wildcats gearing up for the 2025-26 season.
Here is Kentucky Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Mark Pope.
Up next was Associate Coach, Mark Fox.
Following those two, Associate Head Coach Alvin Brooks III was next on set.
One of the most energetic and exciting staff members, Assistant Coach Mikhail McLean, would follow suit.
And for the fifth coach from Kentucky’s staff, Assistant Coach Cody Fueger.
The staff had interesting things to say about this roster during the Pro Day live-streaming event, one that takes place each preseason to help promote the new players to the fan base and specifically (for this event) to the NBA scouts in attendance. A representative from every single NBA franchise was there, helping highlight each individual player before the season even starts. This is such a built-in advantage of being at Kentucky, and I’m super glad that the program does it each year. A lot of other top college basketball programs have since adopted it, but as all of BBN knows, it started right here in Lexington by John Calipari. Completely his idea, completely his concept, many, many years ago which was an idea that was ahead of the curve.
The men’s basketball program continues to benefit from it even today, and I can’t see a reason why they’d ever stop doing this. It’s a great annual opportunity.
