The injury bug strikes again. The start to the 2025-26 season is starting to look very similar to last season with injuries starting to pile up — this time only three games into the season.
It was reported by KSR’s Jack Pilgrim that Lowe re-injured his right shoulder during Thursday’s practice. Apparently there was some degree of a dislocation that led to it having to be popped back into place.
Lowe has already missed several weeks from his first shoulder dislocation during the pre-season Blue-White game. He wasn’t available for either pre-season Exhibition, nor Kentucky’s first official game of the year versus Nicholls.
With a game tonight against the Eastern Illinois Panthers, I think it would be a lock to assume that Jaland Lowe is out and could even be out an extended period of time following it by likely missing the matchup next Tuesday night against the Michigan State Spartans in the Champions Classic.
Once again Kentucky is stacking up multiple injuries and one has to question why so many? Last year was Lamont Butler and Kerr Kriisa. The year before it was DJ Wagner. The year before that it was CJ Fredrick. Before that it was TyTy Washington. The list keeps going and that’s only tied to the injured guards. Not the other positions that have had quite the hit as well.
So why is it? Is it aggressive practices? Lack of strength and conditioning? Or is it straight up just bad luck? Whatever the case is, it is evident that Kentucky need to get healthy sooner than later as their non-conference schedule isn’t going to get any easier. Right behind that comes the gauntlet of the SEC schedule…
