After finishing last week at 1-1, Kentucky started their week off against the Oklahoma Sooners for their mid-week matchup. In our preview of tonight’s game we discussed that the Wildcats were around a nine-point favorite against the Sooners. The final result would finish with a 16-point victory for the blue team.

Kentucky had another really good start in this one, surpassing that opening point spread even before reaching halftime, leading 43-32.

The Wildcats developed this lead with stellar defense and forcing bad shots on their opponent, holding the Sooners to 21% shooting from beyond the three point mark. Kentucky’s would go the opposite route — for the better — as they shot 9-16 (56.4%) from three, setting a season-high for made three pointers in a first half. The Wildcats also led the stats categories in two-point field goal shooting, rebounding, and assists.

Collin Chandler would lead all Wildcats at halftime with 9 points. All of them came from deep.

Starting the second 20-minute stretch of the game, Kentucky managed to match the same energy that they had in the first from the jump. There were times that Oklahoma seemed to find a little bit of momentum by getting a couple of big baskets but ultimately the Wildcat’s size and athleticism was too much for the Sooners to handle. There was essentially a never-in-question double-digit lead the rest of the way and the victory would set in pretty quickly.

Outside of a couple of near Wildcat injuries late to scare the fanbase, that thankfully didn’t pan out, Kentucky won with comfort, 94-78. With tonight’s win, Kentucky improves to 16-7 on the season and 7-3 in conference play. They’ve now also won 7 of their last 8 games.

The leading scorers tonight for the Wildcats were Otega Oweh (24), Brandon Garrison (20), and Collin Chandler (18). Andrija Jelavic had himself a very good night as well finishing with 9 points respectfully.

Kentucky looks to extend their winning streak to three games and eight of their last nine games this coming Saturday as they host the top-25 ranked Tennessee Volunteers. The Vols will look to get some revenge from their loss in Knoxville just a few weeks ago. This matchup will be at 8:30 P.M. EST.
