It’s almost football time in the Bluegrass, Big Blue Nation. On Saturday, Kentucky will take the field against Youngstown State for the start of the Will Stein era in Lexington. The first-year head coach is looking to start his new journey with a bang and he is asking for the fans’ support in this journey.
Entering the new era, plenty of upgrades have been added to Kroger Field. From lower-priced concessions to, chair-back seats on the north upper end of the stadium, there are also set to be some atmosphere changes. That will help Will Stein achieve his goal of having Kroger Field rocking at all times. During his Tuesday press conference ahead of the season-opener, Stein had a message for fans before the season kicks off.
“Is it going to be perfect on Saturday? I doubt it. There’s going to be people that want rock when rap is played, and want rap when rock is played, and we can’t give everybody the song that they want. You know, the best way to have fun at a football game is to win. So let’s focus on that, whatever it takes. And as a fan, it takes standing, cheering, being extremely loud when they are on offense, and being quiet when we have the ball, and staying the entire game, that’s a good sign of hey these people are committed, which I know Big Blue Nation is.”
What does the first-year head coach want to see from his guys when they take the field together for the first time on Saturday? Clean football.
“Ultimately, It’s about us playing clean, right? It’s about playing to our standard, what we’ve created here over the last eight months. We have to play with elite fundamentals and technique. We have to do our job.”
Kentucky starts the season on Saturday against Youngstown State and Stein is calling on Big Blue Nation to make a statement as a new era begins.
