The first game of the Will Stein era has come, and it has left.
It was a hot one, but a fun one. Kentucky fans packed in with excitement for the start of the football season, managing to pull off a White Out — the first wardrobe theme for the 2026 home schedule in Kroger Field.
Kentucky got off to a very hot start, scoring on the first 3 offensive drives led by Notre Dame transfer Kenny Minchey.
Kentucky would enter the halftime mark with a 28-7 lead.
HALF: Kentucky 28, Youngstown State 7
It never got in question during the second half, and it was a lot of the same. Kentucky had its first-game struggles but ultimately never lost control. They finally got to go up against another opponent than themselves, conservatively rolling out plays and getting their footing down.
They would win with ease over the Penguins, 45-13. Here are the final stats.
Will Stein is 1-0 at the Kentucky Football head coach and the Wildcats will host the Alabama Crimson Tide next Saturday at 3:30 PM ET.
