For the first time, over 100 college basketball programs will be playable in the NBA2K video game; the newest edition, NBA2K27, is set to release in early 2027.

The Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball programs had the opportunity to scan their faces into the game as the 2K truck made landfall in Lexington this past week.

Kentucky players gave a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making the game that a handful of them almost undoubtedly grew up playing.

UK has already gotten a taste of what a college basketball game from 2K could look like, as it was among 16 schools featured as downloadable content in NBA 2K26.

That experience appears to have been only the beginning, though, as 2K confirmed that its first full-fledged college basketball experience is expected to arrive in early 2027.

EA Sports brought college football back to the gaming world with the release of ‘College Football 25’ in 2024, sparking a similar question among college basketball fans: When will their sport get the same treatment? Now, it seems as if that opportunity is here with the help of 2K.
