Kentucky improved to 2-0 in exhibition play on Friday night, walking away with a 76-65 win over preseason ranked Texas Tech after a first half test and a second half of excitement.
This was Kentucky’s first true test in exhibition play, after defeating Little Rock just a week before in Rupp Arena, and it had many storylines to it.
Mason Williams would be the main topic of conversation after his breakout 14-point performance, now hitting the double-digit mark in both outings for the Wildcats.
Here are the final stats.

Milan Momcilovic would finish with 15 points, tied for a team-high with Malachi Moreno.
Alex Wilkins struggled in the first half but caught fire late, finishing with 13 points.
Kentucky as a whole shot 49% from the field and buried just 7 three pointers.
It’s clear this is just exhibition play, and Kentucky’s team looks far from perfect, but it’s definitely great having Kentucky basketball back into our lives and seeing them go up against another opponent. The NCAA allowing team’s to play quality competition in their exhibition slate is very rewarding because you can get an early test that you can take back and learn from, and if you lose (or win), it doesn’t count against you.
The ‘Cats will have one more exhibition game left before the regular season starts, coming on Wednesday, October 28th, against the UCF Knights. The game will start at 6:00 PM ET on the SEC Network.
