Big Blue Nation has a lot to be excited for right now, No. 6 seed in the current college football playoffs, a good win over Manhattan last night, and now they get an early morning commitment from Class of 2027 recruit, Cherif Millogo.
Mark Pope and the Wildcats have landed a major commitment in the 2027 recruiting class, as 7-foot-5 center Cherif Millogo has announced his commitment to the University of Kentucky. The addition of Millogo gives Kentucky one of the most intriguing frontcourt prospects in the country and represents a significant recruiting victory for Pope and his staff. Millogo committed to Kentucky but had several big time offers which included, BYU, USC, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisville, Nebraska, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas, among several others.
Millogo is a native of Burkina Faso who currently plays at St. Francis High School in California, Millogo has quickly established himself as one of the premier big-man prospects in the 2027 class. His combination of size, athletic ability, and developing offensive skill set makes him an exciting addition to the Wildcats’ future.
Standing at 7-foot-5 and weighing approximately 250 pounds, Millogo brings a physical presence that is difficult to find at the high school level. He put together an impressive season at St. Francis, averaging 26 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks per game. Those numbers demonstrate his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
Offensively, Millogo gives Kentucky a legitimate interior scoring threat with the size to finish around the rim. Defensively, his length and shot-blocking ability could make him a major presence protecting the paint. He has also shown flashes of versatility that make his potential even more intriguing as he continues to develop his game.
Kentucky’s pursuit of Millogo included competition from several major programs, including BYU and USC. The Wildcats hosted him for an official visit in October, and the coaching staff continued to make him a priority throughout his recruitment.
Millogo joins four-star guard Ryan Hampton in Kentucky’s 2027 recruiting class, giving Pope another important building block as he continues shaping the future of the program.
For Kentucky, this commitment is about more than adding another highly regarded prospect. It is about securing a uniquely talented big man who has the potential to become a difference-maker in the SEC.
