Kentucky is coming off of another really tough loss this past weekend, losing to Vanderbilt with a score of 20-13. This is becoming a common trend but Kentucky is now 2-3 at home this season and just 0-3 in conference play.
It has also been an issue during Mark Stoops’ tenure at Kentucky that the Wildcats just do not come prepared to play coming out of a bye week. The program is just 5-10 after a bye week under Stoops and this time it seems a little more odd that a loss followed after having just won at No. 6 Ole Miss the game prior.
The week 8 matchup for Kentucky takes them on the road again as they head to the swamp to play Florida. Kentucky has had some very good success in Gainesville over the last few years and they look to extend their winning streak against the Gators to four wins in a row this weekend. The game will kick off at 7:45 pm EST on the SEC Network.
If you’re making the trip down to Gainesville, make sure you don’t miss out on the Cat Walk. It will be held outside of Gate 15 for the visiting team.
Kentucky desperately needs a win this weekend as their season appears to be on life support. This three-game stretch of Vanderbilt, Florida, and Auburn was crucial to save their season and they didn’t start off strong with the loss to Vandy. If Kentucky can go 2-0 in the next two weeks, then their hopes of a bowl game are still alive and well.
If they drop another one then those chances start to fade. I think Kentucky will respond well to the loss but I don’t see it being enough. Kentucky’s offense has just not shown me enough to encourage me to pick them on the road in a tough SEC environment. Plus, Billy Napier is coaching for his job right now so there’s that.
I have Kentucky losing their fourth game of the season this weekend as the Cats fall 24-20.
