Cats Coverage Staff Predictions: Jackson State

Kentucky will be playing in their second game in only four days as they host the Jackson State Tigers tonight inside Rupp Arena.

We are finally into that time of the year where almost every week there will be two basketball games being played. Instead of having to go over a week before seeing the Cats play another game, the longest stretch remaining will come after Kentucky plays Ohio State on December 21st in the CBS Sports Classic. They will not play another game after that one until over ten days later on December 31st.

The Jackson State Tigers come into Rupp tonight 0-5 as they are looking for their first win of the season. I will say, Jackson State has had a pretty hard non-conference schedule to start the season. They’ve faced No. 7 Houston, WKU, Xavier, and fellow SEC team, Vanderbilt.

I think it will be interesting to see how Kentucky plays against the Tigers for two reasons. First, it will give us some insight because Kentucky also plays WKU coming up on November 26th, right before Thanksgiving. Secondly, Houston looks to be a scary good team and they were able to handle the Tigers with ease in their matchup. They beat them by a total of 57 points in their early November game. Not saying it will show us anything in particular, but it will give us another idea on how Kentucky ranks versus some of the other top teams in the nation.

This past Tuesday night I once again did not give Mark Pope’s squad enough credit. I said that Lipscomb was going to cover the spread, and that they did not. Tonight’s point spread is hovering around 33-34 points.

I am going to be an optimist for tonight and predict that Kentucky will indeed cover the spread. Jackson State, no offense, is just not in the same stratosphere as Kentucky. If the Wildcats have another good shooting performance, they should be flirting with another 100-point game.

I think the Wildcats will roll in a dominating performance, winning 102-67. Some more Cats Coverage staff predictions are as followed:

Nate Unthank: 110-54, Kentucky. MVP – Kerr Kriisa
