Welcome to a new era of Kentucky Football, where new traditions are coming, current ones might be getting kicked to the curb, and a future of excitement trails right behind it all. With a new face at the helm, Kentucky’s current traditions and routines are questioned and maybe even altered, such as this one mentioned below.
For all seven home games this season for Kentucky Football, there will now be themes for the fanbase to participate in for their game day wardrobe.
Home Game 1 vs. Youngstown State: WHITE OUT
Home Game 2 vs. Alabama: STRIPE OUT
Home game 3 vs. South Alabama: BLUE & WHITE
Home Game 4 vs. LSU: BLUE OUT
Home Game 5 vs. Vanderbilt: BLUE OUT
Home Game 6 vs. Florida: BLACK OUT
Hame Game 7 vs. Louisville: BLUE OUT
Having a game theme isn’t anything new for Kentucky fans, but knowing what the themes are more than 48 hours in advance definitely is. That was the main issue in the past when the program tried to pull these off. The game would be on Saturday and they would put out the announcement on Thursday, sometimes even Friday, which was nowhere close to enough time to prepare if you were coming from out of town and staying in Lexington for the weekend. Us locals could pull it off, but with it being last-minute, many still were questioning what the theme was the very night before to make sure they got it right.
Will Stein led the charge for the game themes this season, putting out the official message.
“Big Blue Nation, it’s Coach Stein. I am so excited to see you all in Kroger Field this fall.” He continued with, “Let’s reveal what you’re gonna wear for each game.”
“Ok, BBN. You know what to wear now at every home football game. Make sure you’re there, you’re loud, you’re proud, and you represent this great state. Let’s be the best environment in all of college football.”
