The Kentucky football program’s primary colors are of course blue and white, as we all know. With that being said, the Kentucky equipment staff still have dabbled with alternate uniforms over the years on multiple occasions. There has been the grey uniforms and the anthracite ones, which debuted for the South Carolina game back in 2011. However, there was a spin-off on the anthracite jersey in which Kentucky wore black uniforms against Missouri just last season.
Fans must have loved this look for the Kentucky Football team because they are calling for its return this weekend.
I have seen this graphic all over social media as the fanbase wants the game on Saturday against Vanderbilt to be a “Blackout” from the crowd, asking for the return of the all-black uniforms and even calling for fans to wear black as well.
This is a video of what the jerseys looked like for the night game against Missouri last year. Kentucky typically goes with a couple of different uniforms throughout the season, and they have already wore the grey uniforms against Georgia in Week 3. So, will the Kentucky fans get their wish?
Not all fans are for this movement though. There are some fans that have the opposite view, saying that, “Kentucky’s colors are blue and white” or “Wearing all black would make it look like Vanderbilt’s colors.” While playing devil’s advocate, I tried seeing both sides’ point-of-view. I think in this new age of collegiate athletics, student-athletes like the new “fresh” uniform designs the most. Hence that old saying, “Look good, feel good, play good” that you’ve heard.
Kentucky is never going to solely get away from the traditional blue and white uniforms, but in my opinion, I think it is okay to mix it up every now and then. Especially under the lights with the new light show that Kroger Field has, I think these uniforms seen below would look pretty sharp.

So, what is your stance on this? Do you think Kentucky should wear more of their alternate uniforms more often or stick with the traditional blue and white? Whatever uniform scheme Kentucky chooses to wear this upcoming Saturday night, one thing is for certain — show up and be loud!
