Cats Coverage Staff Predictions: Western Kentucky University

Tonight is the first of two games this week for Kentucky, again. The Wildcats will play host to WKU in the finals of the BBN Invitational event. On Friday night Kentucky will also play host once again in Rupp Arena, this time to Georgia State.

After this week, Kentucky’s non-conference schedule gets significantly harder. On December 3rd, they’ll play a very good Clemson team on the road. Then the team turns around and heads out to Washington to take on a currently 3rd ranked Gonzaga team.

WKU comes into Rupp Arena tonight 3-2 with their only wins coming against Campbellsville, Lipscomb, and Jackson State. WKU beat Lipscomb by five and Jackson State by seventeen. Kentucky beat those same teams by twenty-nine and forty-nine, in easy fashion.

According to Draft Kings, they have the spread set at -22.5 in favor of the Wildcats. I think if Kentucky plays the way they have in the first five games of the season, a twenty-three point victory is not out of the question at all. This team has fired on all cylinders while playing at Rupp Arena this year. In their four home games they are averaging an outstanding 102 points per game.

A couple of things I look for Kentucky to work on before their two road games next week is limiting turnovers and rebounding. I think overall Kentucky will just be too much for the Hilltoppers to handle. I think the home team definitely covers the spread but not by a whole lot. I have Kentucky winning 98-72 myself.
