Caleb Wilson’s decision on where he will spend his year(s) playing college basketball appears to be coming to a close. The highly sought-after recruit for the class of 2025 has had a lengthy recruitment but has finally made a decision on the actual commitment date that he will decide.
Wilson announced live on the 247Sports College Basketball Show today that his commitment date will be next Thursday the 23rd. The 5-star prospect narrowed his list down to five schools back in November, those being Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio State, and UCF. Caleb Wilson announced today that it is between Kentucky, UNC, and Ohio State.
Though nothing is for certain, there is a lot of speculation that it is a heads-up battle between Kentucky and North Carolina for the top-5 recruit. You have national media members giving their opinions on who will land Wilson for his collegiate career. Jamie Shaw with On3 and Travis Branham with 247Sports are saying UNC, however, there are several saying that it is still Kentucky who is the favorite. With NIL being such a prominent factor nowadays, anything can happen.
What that tells me is that nobody will truly know until Wilson announces it next week. Whichever school is lucky enough to land him will add a rare talent to their roster in 2025. If it is Mark Pope and Kentucky I think this more than likely will round out Pope’s incoming freshman class, joining the likes Jasper Johnson, Malachi Moreno, Acaden Lewis. This would be to many considered a phenomenal job for his first recruiting class at Kentucky.
